Value Added Services

The Telemedia industry has the ability to deliver and bill for services that “connected customers” perceive as having a tangible value – for which they are willing to be billed. The value may also be applied to the very nature of delivery; in that a particular service may be linked to location or the necessity for immediate access or response.

This type of activity also represents “value” to the networks; as they benefit from receiving “premium rates” above and beyond those received for the basic transit of voice and data across their networks. Hence the term value added service. This is one key reason why the mobile VAS, or MVAS industry is so vitally important to [telecoms]operators – as margins on peer-to-peer services are being continually driven down through competition.

Included in this section, Value Added Services are news and features on services such as: horoscopes, dating, parking, chat, competitions, voting, donations, infotainment, games, gambling, professional advice, apps, ticketing, – in fact almost anything that the today’s high tech, “on the move” consumer might demand whilst using their telephone or other connected device. The mobile value-added services market continues to grow, with VAS services, VAS payments and more meaning that any VAS company can thrive.
