Is this the face of the next Chief Exec of Ofcom? And could she eventually take over regulation of PRS? According to Sky News, Sharon White – a career Civil Servant and currently second Permanent Secretary to the Treasury – has been tipped to take over the role by Culture Secretary Sajid Javid, who also has the final say on who gets the job.
White has been responsible for delivering much of the current UK government’s spending cuts and one industry source says that she is adapt at delivering bad news to people with entrenched interest – read into that what you will.
One aspect of the new appointment is that there has been talk that PPP may well be folded into Ofcom at some point and White may be the ideal person to do this.
Of course, these PPP rumours have been around for many years, but it will be interesting to see if White gets the Ofcom role what then happens to the PRS regulator.
