Velocix, a carrier-grade cloud TV software provider, will be showcasing mobile optimised video streaming with its Edge-cloud CDN at MWC Barcelona (Hall 2, 2L12MR).
By using Velocix’s Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) architecture, the mobile viewing experience is enhanced with faster video start-up, lower streaming latency and more reliable content delivery.
Mobile operators also benefit by overcoming capacity constraints and avoiding congestion using mobile optimised request routing plus elastic scaling of the video caching.
This enhanced performance is achieved with a MEC framework by streaming video from containerised caches at the edge of the radio network, where they are located closer to consumers’ 5G connected devices.
Jim Brickmeier, CEO at Velocix, says: “We’re seeing significantly more interest in edge compute based video streaming from mobile operators. With Velocix’s latest generation of CDN software for MEC platforms, operators have the opportunity to differentiate their video services in terms of the customer’s viewing experience, while also moving to more flexible and efficient content delivery.”
Velocix’s carrier-grade content delivery software supports high-capacity live, on-demand, time-shifted video and cloud DVR applications, enabling fixed and mobile video service providers to rapidly scale-out their services using an open video network architecture.
