Deutsche Telekom is launching T-Travel, a new eSIM product for international travellers. Through the digital platform, users can book mobile data packages for more than 200 destinations and activate them directly on an eSIM-enabled device – regardless of their current mobile provider.
The service is entirely digital through eSIM-enabled infrastructure. Travellers can choose the right data package for their destination from four different options and activate it before they travel.
T-Travel launches with four package families: Lite, Standard, Max, and Unlimited. Depending on the offer, customers can choose a duration between one and 30 days; data allowance and price vary by destination and trip length.
The benefits of T-Travel include easy activation and premium networks in more than 200 destinations, all at affordable, transparent prices with no contract commitment. This makes mobile internet abroad worry-free. Telekom offers a global mobile network with around 600 international partners and is also among the leaders in 5G Roaming.
Travelers want to be online as soon as they land, without having to buy a local SIM card or worry about high Roaming charges. Telekom says it developed T-Travel specifically for this purpose. The focus is on simplicity, so customers receive support with every aspect of booking and using the service.
Available in multiple languages
The market for travel eSIMs is growing worldwide. More and more travelers are using digital data offerings to stay online easily while abroad. With T-Travel, Telekom is expanding its presence in this growing international market and extending the reach of its brand beyond its traditional mobile business.
The service launches in numerous languages widely spoken worldwide and across Europe, including English, Spanish, French, German, and Croatian. Additional languages will be added over time.
“With T-Travel, we are creating an accessible offering for mobile data use while traveling. At the same time, we are strengthening the international presence of the Telekom brand and reaching people who are not yet Telekom mobile customers,” says Dr. Kerstin Baumgart, Managing Director, Telekom Wholesale.
Why are the big telcos betting on travel?
Major mobile network operators are increasingly moving into the travel eSIM market, signalling a growing shift in how travellers stay connected abroad. The move follows Vodafone’s introduction of its Travel eSIM service, now covering more than 200 destinations, while Orange continues to expand Orange Travel, its dedicated eSIM offering for international travellers.
Commenting on this trend, Alfonso Mata, head of strategy at Holafly, explains how the entry of mobile network operators into the travel eSIM market underscores just how essential connectivity has become for travellers.
“The entry of major mobile network operators (MNOs) such as Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone and Orange into the travel eSIM market reflects a broader structural shift in the travel industry. According to Holafly’s 2026 Summer Travel & eSIM Report, 28.1 percent of travellers planned to use an eSIM during their summer trips this year – a 9.1 percent increase from 2025. This growing adoption reflects how connectivity has evolved from an afterthought into an essential part of the travel experience, alongside flights and accommodation.”
Mata continues: “For years, UK holidaymakers have faced a complex patchwork of roaming arrangements when travelling abroad, with additional charges sometimes running into the hundreds of pounds. The emergence of travel eSIM propositions from major operators reflects the growing demand for more flexible and transparent alternatives to traditional roaming. Their entry into the market is significant because it validates the scale of the consumer shift that specialist providers have helped drive. Crucially, as major telcos put their weight behind eSIMs, they are also helping to educate the broader public about the benefits of travel connectivity – increasing awareness of the category as a whole.
Mate concludes: “As the market matures, the focus will move beyond simply providing data to delivering the simplest and most reliable connectivity experience. Easy activation, true unlimited flexibility and dedicated, 24/7 multilingual human support will all become increasingly important factors in how travellers choose a provider. These are the expectations that dedicated travel eSIM providers have helped establish, as travellers look for connectivity that is as seamless and hassle-free as the rest of their journey.”
