An unnamed “leading African mobile operator” has signed a three-year deal with AI-powered telecoms solutions company Subex for the deployment of Subex HyperSense Fraud Management. The operator is part of a major global telecommunications group , with a significant mobile money business, says the company.
The engagement will strengthen the operator’s ability to detect and combat emerging fraud across mobile networks and mobile money operations, leveraging Subex’s HyperSense Fraud Management solution to identify evolving fraud patterns and enable faster, more effective investigations.
The operator selected Subex for its deep telecom domain expertise, proven experience across African markets and AI-powered fraud management capabilities.
Commenting on the announcement, Nisha Dutt, MD & CEO, Subex, says: “Fraud in mobile money doesn’t look like fraud in voice or data, it moves faster and can hide within legitimate- looking transactions. Addressing it requires more than anomaly detection, it requires an understanding of the telecom and mobile money context in which those transactions occur. That combination of domain intelligence and AI is what HyperSense is built for, and it’s why we’re a strong fit for this engagement”
The engagement expands Subex’s fraud management footprint across Africa and strengthens its position at the intersection of telecom and mobile financial services. It also reflects the growing relevance of integrated, AI-powered fraud management as operators address risks spanning traditional mobile networks and rapidly expanding mobile money ecosystems.
